The Practice started in 2001 as the Law Offices of Janet Fashakin,a solo practice of law. Today, it is an incorporated law firm known as FASHAKIN $ ASSOCIATES, PC with two offices in the Counties of Queens and Brooklyn. It is a general practice law firm with concentrations in Civil and Criminal litigations, Immigration, Real Estate and Probate matters. Our clients come from various walks of life socially, politically, educationally and ethnically, which has been one of the greatest assets of the firm.
MEET OUR STAFF:
JANET FASHAKIN, RN, ESQ. : Janet is a seasoned attorney and is the Principal Attorney for the law firm.In addition to being an attorney, she is also a registered nurse licensed to practice in NYS, United States and Nigeria, an attribute that gives her nurturing and caring talents as well as makes her a good medical malpractice attorney. Janet obtained her first degree in law (LL.B)from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1992. Upon migrating to the US and passing the NY Bar, she was admitted to the Second Department of the Supreme Court of New York State. She was subsequently admitted to both the Eastern District and Southern District Courts of New York. She is also an admitted attorney to the highest court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Washington DC, and was sworn in by the late Chief Justice Reinquist in June of 2004. Janet obtained her Masters Degree(LL.M) from Cardozo School of Law in NY and currently teaches business law as an adjunct professor at Briaffe College in Bethpage.She is a mother of four and her two older children are already following in her footsteps in law.She considers her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to be her greatest attribute ever and does not shy away from sharing her faith with her clients and associates.
Sandhya Tulshyan, Esq.: Sandyah is a graduate of Gauhati University in India. Upon migrating to America, she obtained her masters degree in law (LL.M) from Fordham University in NY, where she focused on Banking,Corporate and Finance Law.
She is an attorney with experience in the areas of immigration,real-estate, corporate and family law. She also has an MBA. Sandyah has an aptitude for language and speaks fluently three languages including Hindi.
Emmanuel Fashakin Jr.: Emmanuel is a graduate of the City University of New York where he majored in Political Science and English. He began working in the law office during his sophomore year and rose through the ranks to become the senior administrative assistant. Emmanuel also assists the attorneys in research works, prepares and files legal documents in court. He is on his way to law school.
Toyin Adedeji: Toyin is the administrative assistant for our Queens office. She has a bachelor's degree from a New York University. She is a dedicated worker and has her way with the clients, a quality that makes her unique to the firm.
Don Nguyen: Don is a recent addition to the firm as a legal intern. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he majored in English with journalism concentration. He was a staff writer with the Pitt News. Don is currently a student of the City University of New York School Of Law and a J.D. candidate for May 2007. In the summer of 2005, Don worked as an intern with the Queens County Civil Court, Jamaica, NY under the Hon. Lee Mayersohn. Don no doubt will be a great asset to the firm.
Leo Cuomo, Esq.: Mr. Cuomo is a graduate of City University of New York law school. He joined the law office in 2005 and worked briefly with our ligitation cases as well as other matters in the law office.
Janet Fashakin is a woman who loves life and humanity. She takes pride in her Continental African heritage as a Nigerian -American and is a proud member of many African indigenous organizations such as Egbe Omo Yoruba, North America, Egbe Omo-Obokun of Ijeshaland, North America where she serves as its Ag. National General Secretary and Ilesa Grammar School, Old Students Association of North America, serving as its Secretary for Public Relations. On the academic side, Janet is the first and current International President of the Associational of Nigerian Professionals for Positive Change,Inc, a non for profit organization of Nigerian Academicians and professionals in diaspora.
